Chris started class responding to students who want to go faster on Reading Comprehension. Using a basketball analogy, Chris showed them they don't need to read faster. They need to read better. When they read to understand the purpose, they'll see that speed was never the problem. This reading comprehension passage about computer science provided a framework in the first paragraph that we used to chart our course the rest of the way. With this purpose in hand, understanding the rest of the passage was no issue. Working on the questions together, Chris discussed strategy for Purpose, Supported, and Inference questions and reminded class they're almost always must be trues.
