Highlights

In a moment of heterodoxy, Demon Tutor Chris gave students permission to start with a question stem. This is because Test 17, Section 2, Q18 — Children and Test 17, Section 2, Q19 — Children are Logical Reasoning questions with an identical argument. Working to understand it the first time felt like a two-for-one special.

Next, the class became temporary experts in meteorology to defeat Test 17, Passage 4 — African drought. Chris showed students how to approach the passage like a three-year old, stopping to ask why after every sentence. This method for predicting the author’s purpose allowed us to anticipate their argument and make unfamiliar worlds less scary. We knew what the author needed them to do.

We ended class with Test 17, Game 2 — Committees, a game with a lot of freebies that rewarded students for identifying the determinative variable. We learned flexibility isn’t a bad thing when we’ve done the important work of eliminating the rules.

Chris used to speed through the LSAT before the Demon taught him to slow down and enjoy the ride. He now craves the satisfaction of feeling the correct answers snap into place in Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension.
