Week 4, Series 1: Comparative passages

Test 53, Passage 3 — University research

Highlights

Marissa led the class through a set of comparative Reading Comprehension passages, and discussed her best tips for engaging with them and with RC in general. Marissa discussed how having a strong internal dialogue is a major strength when reading on any portion of the LSAT. It can help you feign engagement on even the driest of topics. Today, we read about how capitalism has sunken its claws into research, and how what was once a beautiful, collaborative, and collegial process has now become a game of gatekeeping and suppression. With plenty of Elon Musk hot takes, the class cruised through the passage and questions more smoothly than a ride in a Tesla.

LSAT Tutor

Marissa fell in love with the LSAT and believes that anyone is capable of buckling down and crushing this test, just like she did in taking her score from 155 to 173. Her favorite LSAT pastimes include poking holes in Logical Reasoning arguments and cracking the codes in Logic Games.

This Class

In Foundations, we’ll build good habits as we work through one passage together practicing active reading and prediction. This approach will make it easier to understand and identify the answers when you get to the questions.
