Highlights
Be sure you’re applying broadly on the safety side of the spectrum. Rankings aren’t everything; look at ABA employment outcome reports to see how schools perform in the ways that matter most. Location matters; where do you see yourself after law school? Those reports also show which states their graduates got jobs in. And schools located near each other often compete, so are there others located near the ones you really want to go to? Other than applying broadly, another way to start planning for negotiation is to practice communicating in a way that’s concise, polite, and sincere. But don’t actually use the word “negotiate” with schools---they hate that! (edited)
