Test 25, Passage 3 — Powwows

Highlights

In today’s class, we gamified our RC study by approaching the passage as if the author penned their judicial opinion.

On today’s docket: Powwow Culture Analysis v. Pan-Indian Theory. We explored the facts and reasoning that led the judge to dismiss some sociologists’ claims about powwows and Native American culture, ultimately ruling against the Pan-Indian Theory. We also learned that our role isn’t to argue for answer choices but to assume they’re wrong until they prove otherwise. Armed with the insights from our case brief and a solid approach, the questions pleaded no contest.

This Class

You’re going to write a lot of case briefs in law school, so you might as well start practicing now. In this medium-difficulty class, we analyze an RC passage using a case-briefing framework to discover the author’s “holding” (main point).
