Highlights
Today’s class was all about nailing down our method for approaching the LSAT! Chris taught that having a consistent method across question types (and even across sections) enables us to get consistent scores.
When solving three Logical Reasoning questions, we learned that the most basic and vital LSAT method is critically evaluating what we read, which follows a complete understanding of the test’s arguments and passages. Doing all the work up front makes the questions both easy and solvable. Chris also explained the differences between Closed and Open questions.
In the class’s Reading Comprehension portion, we learned how to read every passage the same way, focusing on understanding both the “what” and the “why” of the passage. Chris admonished us to follow the 80/20 rule, where we spend 80% of our time reading the passage, and the rest answering the questions. This task can seem daunting at first, but the more that we understand the passage, the less time we will have to spend wading through wrong answer choices. When we demand that the answer choices match what was stated in the passage, we move through the questions accurately and efficiently.

Chris used to speed through the LSAT before the Demon taught him to slow down and enjoy the ride. He now craves the satisfaction of feeling the correct answers snap into place in Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension.
LSAT Journey: 158 → 173
Diagramming, formal logic, and complicated LSAT gimmicks prove only one thing—the more you think you know, the less you truly understand.
Join this class to demystify the LSAT and see how common sense and patience make every question simple.
