How Does an LSAC Fee Waiver Work?

What is an LSAC fee waiver?

The LSAC fee waiver is a program for prospective law students in the U.S. and Canada with limited financial resources. It covers up to two LSATs, a Credential Assembly Service(CAS) subscription, law school reports, and a year of LawHub Advantage. You apply through your LSAC JD Services account.

What discounts do I get with an LSAC fee waiver?

If you qualify, you’ll get 80% off Essential, Admissions, or Crushing 1L plans or 20% off Live, Pathway, Pro, or Admissions Pro for 3 years from the date of approval. This includes a one-year courtesy extension of your discount while you reapply for a new waiver. What if my fee waiver is only conditionally approved?

You’ll need final approval from LSAC before we can apply your LSAT Demon discount. Once you have it, upload your approval letter via the plans page or email it to help@lsatdemon.com.

Do I need to do anything to unlock my LSAC benefits?

Yes. To get your free LSAT benefit, complete two different tests in LawHub using “Exam Mode” after your waiver is conditionally approved. To get your free CAS subscription, complete LSAC’s “How Do I Apply to Law School?” course in LawHub. Your LawHub Advantage subscription starts automatically once LSAC gives final approval.

Do I need to buy LawHub Advantage?

No, not if your fee waiver has final approval. A fully approved fee waiver already includes one year of LawHub Advantage. During checkout, select "Yes" for the question "Do you have an LSAC fee waiver?" and upload a copy of your approval letter. If your waiver is only conditionally approved, you won't have LawHub Advantage yet. You can either wait for final approval or purchase it. It costs $124 per year and can be purchased from us or LSAC.

When should I apply?

LSAC recommends applying at least six months before your LSAT registration deadline. If your test date is sooner, apply anyway. Decisions usually take two to five business days after LSAC receives all your documents.
